Rescue Markets

While we all find mosquito bites a nuisance, they can literally be a death sentence for a shelter dog. The warmer months of the year bring on a higher intake of heartworm-positive dogs to shelters. With treatment, the dog’s survival rate is very good. But, the problem is the expense. Heartworm treatments can cost anywhere from $300 - $800 depending on the size of the dog. 

 

Since rescues rely on donations to cover their costs, taking on these special-needs pets can be a challenge. The chances of these dogs getting adopted are slim too because most people don’t want to take on a pet with health issues.

 

Our “Stick it to Heartworms” program is designed to work with our Rescue Partners to help alleviate some of the burdens when the problems arise. Purchase stickers from Rescue Markets and the proceeds will help fund heartworm treatments for shelter dogs. Our Rescue Partners will be more willing to save heartworm-positive dogs knowing we will help cover the cost of medical treatments from the program funds you are helping to generate.
